Syllabus for Videography
Course Description:
This course provides an in-depth study of videography, including video production, pre-production, and post-production techniques. Students will learn how to craft their own video projects by examining the various methods of visual storytelling, camera techniques, lighting, and sound. They will explore various video styles such as documentary, short films, promotional videos, and advertisements. The class also covers post-production works, such as editing and color grading while using professional editing software.
Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of the art of storytelling and visual communication
- Learn technical video components, such as cameras, lighting, and sound.
- Gain working knowledge of advanced camera techniques and editing
- Understand pre-production as well as production planning techniques
- Examine the elements of storyboarding, scriptwriting, and location scouting
- Learn post-production techniques such as editing, color grading, and sound mixing
- Develop an appreciation for various video styles such as documentary, advertising, and promotional work
Materials Required:
- A computer with a video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro
- A camera or smartphone with video recording capability
- External microphone
- An internet connection and storage device
Grading:
- Participation and attendance - 20%
- Class assignments - 20%
- Mid-term project - 20%
- Final project - 30%
- Quizzes - 10%

A FINAL NOTE:
The most important thing you can bring away from this course is a new sense of seeing much as you did in Photography. You will learn to see and design video sequences mentally be able to discover meaning in images and video rather than words, or most importantly, how to make video sequences important and powerful in their own right, rather than merely "take a video" is the main goal of this course.
